What To Expect
It’s only natural to experience a little anxiety and uncertainty when visiting a new environment. At River Oaks, we recognize this. We want to do our part to help eliminate as many of these fears and potential barriers as we can. We want to provide you with a glimpse of River Oaks from the comfort of your home. So grab a cup of coffee and experience a taste of River Oaks!
How do I get there?
What should I wear?
Be comfortable. Many wear jeans, shorts and casual dress attire. If it helps, you will probably feel a bit out of place if you’re a man wearing a suit and tie. We’re not that formal. Of course, modesty is always encouraged.
What should I expect when I enter the building?
There are some first-time guest parking spaces available for you near our main entrance in the parking lot. Once you have entered the building, you can expect to be greeted by one of our friendly greeters. If you enter the main entrance, you will undoubtedly be struck by the aroma of our complimentary, fresh brewed coffee in our Heavenly Grounds café. You will also see the Information Center (look for the international “i” symbol). We have trained staff and volunteers ready to assist you from here. And, we have a gift to give you, so please stop by and introduce yourself.
During the service?
You will be welcomed and often provided with some initial announcements about current events at River Oaks. This will be followed by a contemporary worship time, led by our talented praise band and worship teams. Words to the songs will appear on the large screens for your convenience. From here you will hear a 30 minute message, based on biblical Truth. The service will often conclude with a closing song. What, no offering? Although we encourage worship through the sharing of your financial resources, we do not pass an offering plate during our service. Rather, you will find large wooden boxes in the lobby for your offerings.
