Pre-marital Mentoring

Marriage is an exciting time, filled with many unexplored moments. We believe marriage is a God-ordained and lifelong commitment between a man and a woman. Since God designed the marriage relationship, it makes sense that He knows best how to build a happy marriage. To encourage this sort of lifelong result, we want to help couples consider the issues of mutual love, compatibility, and commitment.

Premarital mentoring process:
  • The first step to this process is to review our wedding policy and submit a wedding application (which is a part of the policy document).
  • Once the office receives the application, the Adult Ministries Pastor will register the couple to take an online Premarital Assessment called Prepare/Enrich.
  • When the assessment has been completed and the results have been returned to the Adult Ministries Pastor electronically, the couple will be contacted to schedule an initial meeting to discuss the strengths and areas of potential growth, as well as review the next steps of the mentoring process.
  • At this point the couple will be assigned a marriage mentor couple—a trained lay-couple from within the River Oaks body. These couples will meet together at least six times prior to the wedding, and then a few times following the wedding.
