Finding Joy in Trials

Finding Joy in Trials

Experiencing JOY in the middle of trials is the underlying current of the whole book of Philippians. Paul, waiting to be executed in a Roman prison, lets his JOY be known throughout the book (Philippians 1:18-19).

In finding JOY, we need to ask one question:
What should it be, when it’s not what I thought it would be?

Joy in trials looks like three things:

  1. Submission to the Sovereignty of God (Psalm 139:15-16)
  2. Faith in the Life, Death, and Life of Christ (Isaiah 26:3-4, Philippians 4:4-7, Hebrews 12:1-2)
  3. Focus on the joyful future (Colossians 3:2-3, Revelation 21:4)

I mentioned the song HELD by Casting Crowns and you can watch the video with lyrics HERE.

The other song I find great comfort in is by Tenth Avenue North, called WORN. You can watch it HERE.

Have a great week!
