In John 15:8-16:1, Jesus gives us a warning that the world will hate us because we are not like the world, but rather like Him.
The reason Jesus warns us is because He has a real concern. He is not concerned if the hatred comes (He knows it will), but He does not want us to fall away (slide back) into the world when it does (John 16:1).
If you do not find yourself at odds with the world in any area of your life, and you are a follower of Jesus, you have to ask yourself, “Why not?”. His message of love was/is so radical, that it is impossible to follow Him and not have people dislike you. But remember, it is not you, but the “Spirit of Truth” (John 15:26) that convicts people of their sinfulness. We are simply to allow the Spirit to flow through our lives. It is this flow that people will find offensive.
Take some time this week to look over your life. Are you different than everyone else because you are choosing Jesus? If not, spend time in prayer asking for guidance to make some of those changes.
Have a great week!
