The Bible clearly asserts that Jesus is God and also man.
John 1:1 and 14, “In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God and the Word was God…So the Word became human and made his home among us.”
Philippians 2:5-7 “You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. Though he was God he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. Instead, he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being.”
Matthew 1:21-23, “And she will have a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins…call him Immanuel, which means ‘God is with us’.”
Why did God become a man? God became a human so he could become the Savior of the world!
One of the most important responses is to accept his free gift of salvation.
John 3:16-17 “For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.”
A second response, for those of us at River Oaks is to share this gift of salvation with others and we have two ways to do that this Christmas season:
