“I am the Way, the Truth, and the Light. No one comes to the Father except through me.” Jesus (John 14:6, ESV)
“Sanctify them in truth; your word is truth.” Jesus (John 17:17, ESV)
What is Truth?
Society today tells you, “There is no Absolute Truth. Do what you want. Do what feels right to you. You are the judge for what is right and wrong. You decide, not anyone else.”
But in the quiet, in the moments when you are left speechless by a sunrise…when you are sickened by the evil in this world, or simply amazed how a sentence written thousands of years ago in your Bible can feel as though written just for you…it is in those moments something inside you says, “There has to be more. There has to be a reason. There has to be meaning. There has to be Truth foundational for my life and my questions”.
This week we looked at God as the Author of Truth. God reveals His Truth so we can be drawn closer to Him (that is the “sanctify” part in John 17:17). The primary way that Truth is revealed is through the Bible. So, if we are to lean into His Word, then we need to make sure we have the tools and resources to do that effectively.
