We Are One–so act like it

We Are One–so act like it

When revisiting the activities and events of the early church in Acts 2:42-47, we learn how those in the early church truly did life together. Daily they were:

  • Learning together
  • Selling possessions to help the poor among them
  • Opening their homes to each other
  • Praying together and for each other
  • Eating together
  • Worshiping together
  • Welcoming new converts to their church
  • Together…unified, loving, caring, honoring, serving, at peace, showing kindness, encouraging…

Although things changed from that first euphoria in the early church of Acts, as time went on… it’s pretty clear, from the writings of the early church that they worked to maintain some degree of “community living”…to be the Body of Christ! “One Another” statements are scattered all over the writings of the New Testament, to about every church or individual. (See full list of “one another” statements by going to www.riveroaks.org and clicking on the “We Are One” slide at the top of the page. Also, see “evaluation” assignment for each of the small groups you may be a part of in your life—family, work, church, community, etc.)

The New Testament writers knew that from a pure doctrinal point of view, WE ARE ONE.  (1 Corinthians 12:12-13, Ephesians 4:1-6)

This new 6-week series is designed to bring those within River Oaks closer together by doing things like…

  • Loving one another other…
  • Living in harmony with one another
  • Not passing judgment on one another
  • Caring for one another
  • Agreeing with one another
  • Serving one another
  • Being patient with one another
  • Forgiving one another
  • Being kind to one another
  • Submitting to one another
  • Encouraging one another
  • Not criticizing one another
  • Not envying one another

Bottom-line… we are better if we are closer!
