Cincinnati 2013 #5

Today was a very powerful day for many of our students.  It began with a time of devotions and then transitioned into our work project (painting, building, demolition, etc).  Tonight’s session was a little out of the box and began with a game where everyone was blindfolded, which forced you to focus on what you hear.  This transitioned to a time of worship and then the speaker spent some time talking about the lies we often feel and hear from Satan.  Here were some of the lies:

  • You are forgotten…
  • You are worthless…
  • You are no good because of the things you have done…
  • You are not good enough…
  • You are not special…
  • You feel abandoned, rejected, or lonely…
  • You are a mistake…

After each lie was spoken, the speaker destroyed the lies by proclaiming different truths from Scripture to show how valued we truly are.  We are a child of God (Jn. 1:12) who has been adopted (Eph. 1:5), rescued, and redeemed (Col. 1:13).  Nothing can separate us from the love of God (Rom. 8:31-39).  Our God has begun a work in us and He will bring it to completion (Phil. 1:6).   We have been chosen and are His special possession (1 Pt. 2:9).  Our God will never forsake us (Deut. 31:8).  We have been fearfully and wonderfully made (Ps. 139:14).

During our group time many of our students shared the lies that they feel from time to time, but we didn’t let it stay there.  We encouraged one another, and sought to fix our eyes on God and His words in Scripture.

We have a great group of students and it is a blessing for us to love them and walk with them during this time in their lives.  Please keep us in your prayers as we wrap up our last full day.
