Greetings to everyone back home!
The team made it safely to Haiti around 4pm EST this afternoon, minus Jake and Judy Showalter who will be joining us tomorrow after a small hiccup that was quickly remedied today by some wonderful helpers back home. Thank you to those who have been praying for our safety throughout our travels. All of our bags made it and despite being a bit tired, we remain in good spirits and are eager to see where the week takes us!
Our trip from the airport in Port-Au-Prince to the Lifeline Mission compound in La Digue Matheux was a little longer than usual due to a washed out bridge in one of the towns on the main highway route, but it gave us more time to ask questions about what we were seeing on the way. For many of us, this is a first mission trip, and first time to Haiti, so much of what we’re seeing is very new and cause for some culture shock. All in all, we’re doing well at adjusting to life in the first few hours we’ve been here.
I’ll sign off for now, and again thank you on behalf of the team for all of your prayers and support. We plan to share more about our week as we can, though if you don’t hear from us, know it might be due to a limited connection. I’ll leave you with a couple of sights from our departure and arrivals.
Blessings to you.
Tim Blaum, for everyone
