We’re Coming Home!
In about 30 minutes or so we’ll load up the bus and begin our journey home. Bus…plane…plane…bus…home. Many of us are leaving with mixed feelings. We’re excited to get home and see our families, but we are also sad to leave our Haitian friends behind. They impacted us in more ways than we could accurately express.
Yesterday morning we took some time to see the market (talk about an experience). Yesterday afternoon we spent some time at the beach to unwind from the trip and take in the beauty of Haiti. We finished our evening back at the Lifeline campus and reflected back on our entire trip. We finished our time together expressing what “substance” we’re leaving with. Some students commented on their desire to be more grateful, others wanted to be more generous, others wanted to be more intentional about serving those in need back at home, others commented on how many new friends they developed and look forward to being more committed to our youth group at River Oaks, and so on. It was a sweet time together.
Thank you so much for all the prayers that have been offered up on our behalf. We are truly grateful and have definitely felt them. Please continue to lift us up in prayer as travel today.
Parents, please know that your kids are way more tired than they realize. They are going to several days to unwind and rest. I’ve already warned them about this and have encouraged them to take it easy for a few days. So do what you can to slow them down. If they’re not intentional they’ll start going going going, seeing this person that person and so. They need some time to take a nap and unwind. You may need to encourage them in this as well.
