Haiti ‘12 Update #16

Haiti ‘12 Update #16

Well, this is it, our last full day here on the island.  It’s kind of a bittersweet moment, we’re obviously glad to be coming home, but on the other hand it is definitely difficult to leave this place behind.  You hear so many statistics about poverty and the third world, but it’s another thing altogether to surround yourself with the individuals who make up the statistic.  When you get to know them you realize that these are not statistics, these are people.  Over time, the kind spirit of these people has grown on all of us. This week has given all of us a glimpse of how to live content with what we have as well as how to depend on God for the things we don’t.  I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity I had to come here and touch lives and have my own life touched as well.  I will greatly miss Haiti and the people in it, but I rest assured in the knowledge that the work we have done here may lead others to Christ.

Tommy, and all the Haiti Team, we look forward to having you back with us to share more from the heartfelt snapshots you’ve given us on the blog. We pray with you for God to prosper the seed you have sewn among His loved Haitian people to bring more of them to Jesus, as well as find ways for “Children’s Lifeline” to continue its vital ministry there. Megan and Hannah, I hope you’ll be up for some “up close and personal” sharing with our small group soon! Love all of you guys! –Gloria
