Goshen Children’s Ministry Director

Purpose: This position oversees the Children’s Ministry at River Oaks for the Goshen Congregation. This includes providing leadership to our volunteers in those environments, positioning and equipping them to partner with parents to develop kids into fully-devoted followers of Jesus Christ who GO tell their friends about Jesus, GROW in their faith and friendships, and SHOW compassion to the poor.

 

Reports to: Goshen Congregation Pastor
Job Classification: Part-Time (20-30 hours/wk)

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Creates and manages the Children’s Ministry budget and strategy.
  • Develop the Scope and Sequence for curriculum development in all Children’s environments.
  • Oversees the day-to-day operations of the Children’s Ministry.
  • Recruits and equips check-in and children’s first impression volunteers.
  • Oversees PreK, Elementary, and Pre-Teen environments.
  • Oversees all volunteer recruitment and training.
  • Works with Volunteer leads to provide high-quality and safe childcare as requested for special events.
  • Ensures all environments are prepared with excellence and ready for events.
  • Helps maintain the facilities calendar for the Children’s Ministry wing.
  • Works plan, organize, and implement Kids Camp in collaboration with Español Children’s Ministry Director.
  • Ensures Policies and Procedures for Children’s Ministry are kept up to date and followed.
  • Any other duties as requested

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Knowledge of childhood development to best meet the needs of kids in weekly lesson development and environment creation.
  • Strong spiritual commitment to Jesus Christ and lives a God-honoring lifestyle.
  • A loyal team player who is committed to the mission, values, and vision of River Oaks.
  • Makes a positive contribution to staff culture that embodies the River Oaks’ Cultural Standards.
  • Experience in volunteer coordination, development, and empowerment.
  • Possesses a high level of initiative and ability to work independently, performing duties with minimal direction and supervision.

PROFICIENCIES

  • Demonstrates excellence in written/verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to anticipate needs, highly organized, attention to detail, a multi-tasker, and excellence in time management.
  • Maintains confidentiality as appropriate and is accountable with church resources.
  • Motivated to continually seek professional development opportunities.
  • Trained in (or willing to be trained in) First Aid/CPR.
  • Consent to a criminal background check.

OTHER SPECIFICATIONS

Work Schedule: Working hours will include Sunday mornings and occasional evening or weekend responsibilities.
Working Conditions: Due to seasonal activity, job duties may occasionally require additional hours and availability outside normal hours. May require flexibility to adjust the work schedule from time to time.
Meetings: Participates in Congregational staff meetings and weekly check-ins with Children’s Ministry staff and supervisor.
